I got some feedback on the blog today from the younger generation. First report was that it was “Impressive blog. I haven’t decided if that last statement should be read sarcastically or not.” It was difficult to understand the other review because the young woman was laughing too hard at the idea of an old man doing a blog. When I complained that she was embarrassing me, she replied “You’re embarrassing yourself.”
In most circumstances I would begin to rail about the lack of manners in today’s children, and wonder what kind of parent would abrogate their responsibilities so completely that this type of rude behavior would be deemed acceptable. Then I remembered where I knew these kids from.
I also find it amusing when “more mature” folks deny their decrepitude by pretending they’re college-aged bloggers. As they say about the elder set when they discover how to use a computer and find this thing called “the Internet”, “give a aged, balding male a hammer, and the whole world looks like a nail!” Really funny. It doesn’t bother me that much because they’ll be dead soon while us young’uns live on to become balding old men and women ourselves. Darwin would be proud, as would the Lion King.
